Full of praise for Fulop
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Hans Segers described Marton Fulop’s first full international cap as ‘the icing on the cake’ of a fine season for the young keeper.
Marton won his first cap for Hungary when he came on for the second half of a friendly against France on May 31. He stood firm as well, denying Sylvain Wiltord one-on-one on his way to keeping a second half clean sheet as France won 2-1.
It underlined the progress of the 22-year-old since his arrival from MTK Hungaria last summer.
Marton was also on the bench 16 times as either Paul Robinson or Radek Cerny’s deputy, played nine games for our reserves and, most notably, made quite an impact in his first loan spell in the Football League with seven starts at League One outfit Chesterfield.
Goalkeeping coach Hans has seen his development first hand. “When we started working last summer we had to change a few things, especially on the technical side - positional play and decision making.
“His decision making is much better and that’s vital for a goalkeeper.
“I’ve seen the games and he’s been outstanding for Chesterfield. They love him there! He’s quite a hero because he’s not afraid to come out and collect crosses.
“A year down the line and he’s come a long way.
“He’s taken everything on board and has gone from strength to strength and being involved with the Hungarian squad is the icing on the cake for him.”
Look out next week for 'Keepers Week' on www.spurs.co.uk where Hans will give his thoughts on how our goalkeepers performed last season...
