| He won his first England cap in April 1914 and after the war, starred in the team that won the Second Division title in 1920. Denied a place in the 1921 FA Cup Final through injury, he collected his second international cap in 1922 and although he didn't play for England again, he continued to weave his magic until going back to Northampton in 1926.
He was also an impressive county cricketer for Northants where he racked up over 7,000 runs, took over 100 wickets in 258 matches before later umpiring at Test match standard. Appearances/goals: 215/21 (Lg), 22/3 (FAC).
