Matthew Etherington is hoping that a period of rest will provide the cure for his nagging ankle injury.
The nifty winger sustained the injury against Burnley in the Worthington Cup just over a month ago when he took a heavy whack from the home full-back and despite making a 45-minute return against Arsenal, the bone is still bruised and Matty is still struggling.
"Ever since the Burnley game it has not really been right," reported Matty. "I tried to play on it and was making it worse.
"I'm getting advice from specialists, had a couple of scans on it and have been told to rest it for a couple of weeks and hope it settles down.
"I'll just have to wait and see how it goes.
"It is not ligament, it's bone bruising. Apparently it sometimes takes a while to go away so it's a matter of patience really.
"He caught me big!
"I left it for a week and tried to come back a little bit too early. I haven't been right since that game."
The leftie, who enjoyed such a promising start to the campaign, will now make sure that his ankle is completely pain-free before attempting another return - especially given the sprinting, twisting and turning he uses to such effect in games.
"I want to make sure it's right next time and not come back and feel it. I want to make sure it is 100 per cent right because I'm still young and don't want injuries like this.
"Especially in the position I play in - I need my ankles to be right.
"I'd say a couple of weeks. It's hard to tell really, I've got to go back and see the specialist and he'll tell me more then. I have to wait and see, hopefully it'll be cleared up soon."
