'Easy to adapt' - Etienne
18 August 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Versatile Etienne Capoue said he had no qualms about dropping in at centre-half to help us get the job done at West Ham on Saturday.
Starting in central midfield, the 26-year-old had to move back into a defensive role alongside French compatriot Younes Kaboul following Kyle Naughton’s dismissal, with eventual match winner Eric Dier replacing Kyle on the right.
The numbers were evened up in the second half after James Collins was shown a second yellow card, with debutant Eric popping up in the box to roll home a dramatic late goal to seal a 1-0 win.
Naturally delighted with the win, Etienne said he was pleased with not only his own performance but that of the team.
“We started very well,” he said. “We wanted to win here and we did with a good performance. We played like a team with good spirit on the pitch and we have to carry this on now.
“It was easy to play centre-back with Younes. I had to do my job and help the team.
“We are delighted to have Eric here and we are so happy for him. He scored a great goal in the last minute – a perfect job!”
