Dele wins 2016-17 Under Armour Goal of the Season

Tue 13 June 2017, 17:15|Tottenham Hotspur

Dele Alli has retained another award in 2016-17 - this time, our Under Armour Goal of the Season.

Dele's fine strike against Watford progressed through the rounds of our new voting system to meet Christian Eriksen's strike at Palace in the final.

And just as last season and his wonder strike at Palace - also named BBC Match of the Day's Goal of the Season in 2015-16 - Dele came out on top, his 25-yard curler into the top corner against the Hornets at the Lane in April just edging out Christian's fierce low drive at Selhurst Park in the same month.

Dele's goal was also named Goal of the Season by our Supporters Clubs.

The midfielder enjoyed a fantastic campaign, scoring 22 goals in his 50 appearances in all competitions, including 18 in 37 in the Premeier League. That form helped him retain the prestigious PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Speaking about his strike against Watford, Dele said: "Once you catch a ball sweetly you know it has a good chance of going in and as soon as I hit that one I knew it was going to test the keeper at least, and thankfully it went in.

"Itl was just a few days before my (21st) birthday so it was great to score but most importantly the team won the game.

"It’s always nice to score goals and I’m happy to be scoring goals for this team. We'll just keep working hard and hopefully the goals will keep coming."
