Harry honoured at London Football Awards

Harry Kane spoke of his delight after receiving the Premier League Player of the Year prize at the London Football Awards on Thursday night (1 March).

The striker was announced as the winner at a glitzy ceremony in the capital, featuring a host of top names from across the football spectrum.

Independently judged by key figures in football and the media, the awards are designed to celebrate the very best of London football.

Organised by the Willow Foundation, all proceeds from the presentation evening went to the charity, which works with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable special days, enabling them and their families to reconnect and refocus on each other while enjoying an activity of their choosing.

Willow was founded by former Arsenal goalkeeper and TV presenter Bob Wilson and his wife, Megs, as a lasting memorial to their daughter Anna, who died of cancer aged 31.

“It’s an absolute pleasure to receive this award,” said Harry. “I remember winning the Young Player of the Year back in 2015 – it was my first professional award so it means a lot to me.

“I want to say big thanks to Bob Wilson and the Willow Foundation, they do an amazing job, and of course I want to thank my family, my team-mates and everyone at Tottenham for helping me achieve this award.”
