It was a maiden campaign to remember for Tōko Koga at Spurs, which ended in her picking up the Adults Supporters Player of the Season for 2025/26.
Arriving in England as a 19-year-old, following a spell with Feyenoord, in the summer of 2025, the Japan international took to Women’s Super League football like a duck to water, which ultimately saw her named in the competition’s team of the season for 2025/26.
Unfazed about any challenge despite her age, Tōko made 26 appearances in all competitions last term and contributed with two goals, including a 35-yard strike from distance to earn us a 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in our season finale.
Spurs Career
2025/26 – 26 appearances, two goals, was named in the WSL’s Team of the Season
Life before Spurs
At 18 years old, Tōko was competing in the Dutch top flight, where she made 35 appearances for Feyenoord, scoring on three occasions to help the club secure a fifth-place finish and reach the semi-final of the KNVB Cup. Following her breakthrough season for the club, she was then named in the Eredivisie Women’s Team of the Season.
International
Featuring for Japan’s youth teams from Under-17 to Under-23 level, Tōko made her senior international debut against the USA as a substitute in the SheBelieves Cup in April, 2024. Following an impressive 2023/24 season, the defender was then named in Japan’s 2024 Olympic squad and started in all four games for her nation in the tournament. This year, she featured in all three SheBelieves Cup fixtures and scored the winning goal against the USWNT to help Japan claim the trophy for the first time.
