Just a week earlier, Xavi produced one of the moments of a challenging campaign against Brighton, a beauty into the top corner as we picked up another crucial point in the run-in.

The explosion of emotion in N17 that followed that strike was the highlight for Xavi - alongside a superb solo goal against Brentford - in a testing debut season both individually and for the team. Signed from RB Leipzig in August, 2025, he made 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals, before his injury on 25 April. Speedy recovery, Xavi!

Life before Spurs

Initially at Spanish side Club Deportivo Thader before joining the illustrious academies of FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, Xavi made his senior debut for PSG aged 17 in February 2021. In his first full season, 2021/22, Xavi made nine appearances as PSG won Ligue 1. Xavi’s breakthrough season came in 2022/23 as he returned to Holland and PSV, winning the Dutch Super Cup and Dutch Cup double and finishing as the Eredivisie’s top goalscorer with 19 goals. He was also named Talent of the Season (48 appearances, 22 goals). Xavi returned to PSG for 2023/24, but was soon loaned to RB Leipzig, where he was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season (43 appearances, 10 goals). Loaned again to the Bundesliga club for 2024/25, the move was made permanent in January, 2025. In his three seasons at RB Leipzig, Xavi made 78 appearances (22 goals) before joining Spurs.

Netherlands

Xavi made his senior debut for the Netherlands on no lesser stage than the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the youngest ever player to feature for his country in the knockout stages of the competition. A member of the Dutch squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2024, Xavi had 34 caps to his name (6 goals) at the end of 2025/26.
