Ukraine international forward Mykhailo Mudryk joined us on 1 September, 2026, on a season-long loan from Chelsea after previously working with Roberto De Zerbi during his time at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Hailing from Krasnograd, Ukraine, Mykhailo spent his early career with Metalist Kharkiv before making the move to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in 2014. Two years later, he joined Shakhtar Donetsk and worked his way up through the youth age groups to earn his senior debut at the age of 17 in a Ukrainian Cup match, a competition Shakhtar went on to win that season.

After two loan domestic spells between 2019 and 2021, Mykhailo returned to Shakhtar ahead of the following campaign and was met by Roberto after he joined as Head Coach in May, 2021. Featuring in all of the club’s UEFA Champions League fixtures that season, he became a key part of the team and was named Shakhtar Donetsk’s Player of the Year for 2021 – an award he claimed a second time the following year.

Named Ukraine’s Footballer of the Year for 2022, Mykhailo made 44 appearances for Shakhtar, registering 29 goal involvements. That year, he helped the team to the 2021/22 Ukrainian Super Cup title while he later played his part in the 2022/23 Ukrainian league title success.

With the ability to play on either wing, a move to the Premier League with Chelsea came in January, 2023. He made his debut shortly after against Liverpool at Anfield where his impressive pace caught the eye. Scoring his first goal for the Blues later that year, he scooped the club’s Goal of the Month award for October, 2023, with a sensational strike against Arsenal. He appeared on 73 occasions for Chelsea, recording 21 goal involvements.

Representing Ukraine across a number of age groups, he made his senior debut in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup play-offs against Scotland in June, 2022, a fixture his country won 3-1. Additionally, he scored the decisive goal to secure Ukraine’s qualification to Euro 2024.
