An all-round midfielder with a willingness to get on the ball and play forward, Maite Oroz’s 2025/26 campaign came to a premature end after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL) in October, 2025.
Just over a month into the 2025/26 campaign, the Spain international suffered an ACL in our Women’s League Cup match against Birmingham City that ruled her out for the remainder of the season.
Maite joined the Club in 2024/25, after completing a move from Spanish side Real Madrid that summer. Despite a small injury ruling her out after her first three games until early December, Maite made 19 appearances in her first season.

Life before Spurs
Maite began her senior career at Osasuna, having joined the club at the age of 12, and featured for the first team in the Segunda Division during the 2013/14 campaign before joining Athletic Bilbao in 2014. She made her senior debut for Athletic Bilbao in September, 2015, and made 116 appearance across five seasons at the club before making the switch to Real Madrid for their inaugural season under that name for the 2020/21 campaign.
Last term, Maite recorded one of her best goalscoring campaigns to date, netting five goals in 24 Liga F appearances as the club finished second in the table and featured regularly for them in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. In her time at Madrid, she was recently appointed as co-captain and made 146 appearances for Las Blancas, the second-highest in the team’s history.
International
Maite has 15 caps for Spain so far, scoring four goals, and was part of the side that won the UEFA Women’s Nations League in 2024.
