Foyth stars on Argentina debut

Defender Juan Foyth continued his November to remember with a Man of the Match display on his senior international debut for Argentina in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

Our young defender, who marked his Premier League bow in our 3-2 win at Wolves earlier this month and netted the winning goal on his second top-flight start at Crystal Palace last weekend, started and played the full match as his nation beat Mexico 2-0 in Cordoba in central Argentina.

Attacking midfielder Erik Lamela came on as a late substitute for Argentina for his first cap in over two years, while goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga took his place in the squad for the first time with a spot on the bench.

Christian Eriksen captains Denmark against Wales

On Friday evening, Christian Eriksen captained Denmark to a 2-1 UEFA Nations League victory in Wales. The result means the Danes have topped Group B4, guaranteeing themselves at least a play-off to qualify for Euro 2020 if they don’t manage to reach the tournament during the regular qualifying process.

Meanwhile, Hugo Lloris produced a string of saves to prevent a thrashing as France lost 2-0 in the Netherlands in Group A1. Hugo played the full match while Moussa Sissoko entered the fray off the bench in the 65th minute. A draw for Holland against relegated Germany on Monday would see them wrestle top spot away from Les Bleus and, in addition to a Euro 2020 play-off, would win them a place at next summer’s Nations League finals.
