Sarr claims Player of the Match prize after Brighton win

Pape Matar Sarr has been named our supporters' HSBC Player of the Match after finding the target on his first start of the calendar year as we defeated Brighton 2-1 on Saturday.

Claiming his first Player of the Match award since our opening day draw at Brentford, Pape claimed 33 per cent of the vote in an exclusive poll on our official app straight after the game.

Selected for his first league start of the year following his international duties with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, the midfielder looked right at home once more as we came from behind to defeat the Seagulls.

Having trailed to Pascal Gross' 17th-minute penalty, Pape was the man to come up with our equaliser, curling home form a tight angle with his weak foot after his initial attempt to tee up Richarlison was diverted onto the post before falling nicely to his feet once more.

That goal made it 36 games in a row in which we have scored in the Premier League - only Arsneal have enjoyed a longer run of scoring in consecutive matches (55) in the history of the competition. We later won the game in the final few seconds as Brennan Johnson drove home from close range.
