Cristian Stellini confirmed that Heung-Min Son will be assessed by our medical team on Wednesday after being forced off following a bang to the face in our 2-1 win against Olympique de Marseille on Tuesday evening.

Sonny took the full force of Chancel Mbemba’s shoulder to the left side of his face as he challenged for an aerial ball in the 24th minute at the Stade Velodrome. He was replaced by Yves Bissouma as we came from behind to clinch victory and top spot in Group D to progress to the knockout stage of the competition thanks to Clement Lenglet’s equaliser and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s dramatic winner in the 95th minute.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY after the match, Cristian told us: “We have to check Sonny tomorrow. We wait for the medical assessment... we have to check tomorrow.”

Asked about Sonny in his post-match press conference soon after, Cristian replied: “Sonny feels better now. I saw him in the dressing room. He celebrated with us. So, we will wait for tomorrow.”

Asked about the injury, Cristian added: “It is his face. His eye is a bit swollen.”
