O’Gara, Robertson to lead Barbarian F.C. against the All Blacks XV at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Thu 21 July 2022, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Two greats of rugby union have been named as coaches for Barbarian F.C. for the historic clash against the All Blacks XV at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 13 November (2pm*).

Former All Black flanker Scott Robertson, who has led Crusaders to four successive Super Rugby titles as coach since 2017, will be joined by Ronan O’Gara, second all-time Irish cap with 128 between 2000-2013, three times a British Lion, 2009 Grand Slam winner and twice Heineken Champions Cup winner with Munster.

The pair coached together when O’Gara joined Christchurch-based Crusaders in 2018, winning the Super Rugby championship in 2018 and 2019. O’Gara joined La Rochelle for 2019/20 and led the French side to their first Heineken Champions Cup title in May, beating Leinster in the final.

Now they are together again for the first ever international rugby union match to be played at our stadium as the teams compete for The Killik Cup.

On the appointment, Robertson said: “Rugby throws you great opportunities and coaching the Baabaas has to be one of the best there is. I am proud to help the incredible Club and add to its history.”

O’Gara added: “I am honoured to be coaching the Barbarians this Autumn as we take on the All Blacks XV.  It will be a dynamite coaching team and I’m very much looking forward to reuniting with Ray after my time with him at Crusaders. It is always great to join forces with world-class coaches like him and to do so for this world-famous club will be an unforgettable experience.

“We’re going to put our heads together in the coming months and devise a squad of exciting talent who will light up the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and bring the Barbarians’ style of play to life against the All Blacks XV.”

Tickets are now on sale here, with prices starting from £40 for adults and £25 for children. Premium packages are available with prices starting from £219pp.
