The Mind Series

Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea are coming together to support better mental health by taking part in The Mind Series next month.

Following the Government’s confirmation that restrictions on large outdoor events have been lifted, the Club is delighted to confirm that we can welcome a near-capacity crowd back to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for our home fixture against Arsenal on Sunday 8 August - this allows for a reduction in seating capacity caused by the continued implementation of COVID-secure zones nearby player areas.

To add to the excitement of a return of fans to football, following our Men’s fixture (kick-off 2pm), the two Clubs’ Women’s teams will also compete in a friendly match on the day (kick-off 4.45pm).

Funds raised from The Mind Series will be split between Mind and each of the club’s charitable foundations. £5 from the sale of each Spurs v Arsenal match ticket will be donated to Mind and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation*, with Mind receiving 25 per cent of proceeds from each of the three matches in The Mind Series and with each club’s Foundation receiving 75 per cent of proceeds from that club’s respective home match. Each organisation will use its donation to support mental health and wellbeing projects in communities both at home and overseas.

All tickets for the Spurs v Arsenal fixture will be valid for both the Men’s and Women’s matches.

Why are our clubs coming together to support better mental health with Mind?

Demand for Mind’s services, including its Infoline, has increased exponentially during the pandemic, with latest figures released by the Office for National Statistics showing one in five adults experiencing symptoms of depression, compared to one in 10 prior to the pandemic.

Mind’s own survey of 16,000 people during the initial lockdown also found that two in three young people (68 per cent) and three in five adults (60 per cent) said their mental health had got worse.

Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea are uniting with Mind to raise vital funds, using our joint global reach and platforms to promote mental health awareness as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Mind Series builds on work already being undertaken by the Clubs and their local Minds, including Mind in Haringey and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. Mind in Haringey has a long-standing relationship with the Foundation, having previously delivered Mental Health First Aid training to staff, with additional projects planned for later in the year. Mind in Haringey began in 1974 and provides information, advice and support to people affected by mental health problems, primarily in Haringey. The charity runs a wide variety of services including the Ex-Services Project for veterans, a low-cost counselling service, Safe Haven: a support service for people experiencing a mental health crisis, and the Black Expression Project: a peer-support service for young black men.
