Jose Mourinho liked what he saw in Steven Bergwijn’s display at Sheffield United.

The Dutch flyer played his part in two goals in the 3-1 win at Bramall Lane on Sunday. His shot was tipped over by Aaron Ramsdale, leading to Serge Aurier’s opener from Heung-Min Son’s corner and, later, he fashioned a clever, lofted pass to set up Tanguy Ndombele’s moment of magic to secure the points at 3-1.

“His season has been a little up and down in terms of fitness, of small injuries, even illness a couple of weeks ago,” said Jose on Stevie, who has featured in 20 of our 31 matches across all competitions so far this season.

“Of course, he has the potential to do better, but I was really happy with his performance in the last game, very consistent, very participative, involved in lots of attacking situations, the shot for the good save that led to the first goal, the assist for Tanguy’s goal - yes, he was very good.”
