We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement for the season-long loan signing of Rachel Furness from Reading.

The 31-year-old will wear the number 27 shirt for Spurs Women this season.

The midfielder began her senior career with former Barclays FA Women’s Super League (WSL) side Sunderland.

Initially joining them in 2004, she spent two years with the Black Cats before spells with Newcastle and Icelandic team Grindavik and rejoined Sunderland for a further six seasons in 2010.

Rachel has spent the last two seasons with Reading and made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Royals last season.

With over 60 caps for Northern Ireland, our latest addition brings a wealth of experience to the squad as we prepare for our first game in the WSL this weekend.

Rachel said: "I'm very excited to join the Club and looking forward to the challenge ahead. Speaking with Karen (Hills) and Juan (Amoros) about the vision and ambitions for this Club is something that attracted me massively. I hope that I can make a positive impact on and off the pitch and help the team establish themselves in the WSL.”
