Women reach final in Spain

Real Betis 1-2 Spurs Women

Wed 14 August 2019, 10:22|Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs Women are through to the final of the Ramon de Carranza Trophy following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Real Betis in Cadiz, Spain, on Tuesday night.

Forward Lucy Quinn gave us the lead in the semi-final at Ramon de Carranza Stadium, but Betis equalised shortly after through Marta Canzalla.

Trialist Kit Graham came off the bench to score what proved to be the winning goal as we booked our place in the final against Athletic Club (Bilbao).

Jess Naz won us a penalty after 27 minutes – she was brought down inside the area by Rosa Otermin, before Quinn stepped up to slot the spot-kick neatly into the bottom left corner.

Four minutes later, Betis responded when Canzalla headed in Marianela Szymanowsky’s corner kick.

Trialist Graham came off the bench and within four minutes of entering the pitch, she brilliantly intercepted a pass from Merel Van Dongen before firing the ball past the Betis goalkeeper.

The final takes place later today (Wednesday 14 August) against Bilbao, kick-off 9pm UK time.
