Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama have returned to full training with the squad ahead of Saturday’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa.

The midfield pair have been sidelined during pre-season but are back in the frame as we prepare to take on newly-promoted Villa at the new stadium (5.30pm).

Heung-Min Son and Juan Foyth are both serving the second of respective three-game bans following their red cards in the penultimate Premier League match of last season. Defender Juan also has an ankle injury – he’s continuing rehab and expected to return to training in September.

New signing Ryan Sessegnon is also unavailable due to a hamstring injury sustained during the summer with the England Under-21 national team. Ryan is undergoing assessment and working through a rehabilitation programme.

Midfielder Dele Alli is progressing well with his rehabilitation from a hamstring problem but is not available this weekend.

But there is good news on left-back Ben Davies who has returned to training with the squad after groin surgery and is building up his fitness.
