Together Tottenham launches with mission to create 150,000 life-changing opportunities for local young people by 2030
Tottenham Hotspur and its official charitable body, Spurs in the Community, have today announced Together Tottenham - a single, connected pathway designed to improve life chances for young people in Tottenham and surrounding areas.
Bringing together the Club and Spurs in the Community’s off-field work for the first time under one shared purpose, Together Tottenham will empower young people living nearby the stadium from their very first experience of Spurs - from primary school, throughout education, training and into a career. The mission is to create 150,000 meaningful opportunities for young people to learn, earn or lead by 2030.
Together Tottenham has been shaped by the Club’s largest-ever impact survey, completed by more than 3,300 supporters during the summer. Fans identified opportunities for young people, local jobs and growth, and community safety as their leading priorities for the Club beyond football.
It also builds on the extensive existing work already being delivered across the Club and Spurs in the Community. More than 13,000 people take part in Spurs in the Community activities every year, generating £24 million in social value for the local area. Since 2023, employment fairs at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have attracted 3,500-plus jobseekers and delivered over 1,500 positive outcomes. The Club’s Global Football Development programmes reached 25,000 children in 2025/26, while the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham - the Club-sponsored Sixth Form adjacent to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - continues to provide an outstanding local route into higher education, with 107 students securing places at Oxford and Cambridge since the school opened in 2017. Globally, the Club has engaged with more than 200,000 young people in the last 10 years through a Football Development programme delivered in partnership with Principal Partner, AIA.
Yet there are prevalent social issues that continue to risk holding back the ambition of young people in the Club’s local community:
- Child poverty in Haringey stands at 38 per cent after housing costs, and 40 per cent in the Club’s neighbouring Borough of Enfield, against 31 per cent across London and 21 per cent nationally.
- North Tottenham is among the 10 per cent most deprived neighbourhoods in England.
- Haringey has the second-highest proportion of working-age residents claiming out-of-work benefits in London (8 per cent, against a London average of 5.7 per cent), while in Enfield, 21 per cent of residents’ jobs are classified as ‘low paid’.
This is against the backdrop of latest ONS estimates that show 981,000 young people aged 16 to 24 across the UK - 13 per cent of that age group - were not in education, employment or training in April to June 2026.
Together Tottenham will therefore work to ensure that a young person growing up in N17 should find every route to a good life close to home and know that their local Club is there for them at every stage, contributing to three long-term outcomes:
|
Stronger Communities. more belonging, civic participation and pride in Tottenham. |
Stronger Lives. improved wellbeing, confidence, resilience, and skills. |
Stronger Futures. better access to education, employment, leadership, and economic opportunity. |
Today, we are delighted to announce two new commitments to complete the Together Tottenham pathway:
01 |
02 |
|
A new university campus in Tottenham: Four university partners will teach degree and postgraduate courses from the stadium and heritage buildings restored by the Club. Courses will include computing, digital marketing, business analytics, cyber-security, event management and sports science. The campus will open in phases from 2028, with capacity for up to 1,500 students. Bursaries and scholarships will be reserved for young people from Haringey and Enfield.
|
Call Up, a jobs-first route into work: Led by Spurs in the Community, in partnership with Maikai, Call Up is the first new major initiative under Together Tottenham and will bring together the Club, employers, educators, government and community partners to connect young people across North London with jobs, apprenticeships, work experience, mentoring and training. The Club will use its apprenticeship levy to create paid, skilled routes into Tottenham Hotspur, with partner employers contributing further opportunities. |
The complete Together Tottenham pathway has seven stages spanning ages five to 25 and beyond: early engagement in primary school; mentoring and world-of-work experiences in secondary school; first-work support; sixth-form study at the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham; undergraduate and postgraduate study on the new university campus; and routes back into the Club, Spurs in the Community or partner organisations as an employee or mentor.
Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden said: "Every young person deserves a fair shot at a good future, no matter where they grow up, and it is great to see Tottenham Hotspur and Spurs in the Community stepping up.
"Football sits at the heart of our communities, and through Together Tottenham young people across North London will be connected with jobs, apprenticeships, work experience, mentors and training to kickstart their careers.
"This is further evidence of the leading role football has to play in helping create opportunity for young people, with Youth Hubs already opening in football clubs up and down the country and the Premier League backing our Youth Guarantee to give every young person the chance to earn or learn."
David Lammy, MP for Tottenham, said: “Tottenham made me who I am. The values I carry today, resilience, community and belief in the power of opportunity, were shaped by the people and places that surrounded me growing up here.
“That is why Together Tottenham means so much. It recognises something I have always known: that the young people of Tottenham have extraordinary talent and ambition. What they need is the support, opportunities and connections that allow that talent to flourish.
This initiative represents a long-term commitment to ensuring that every young person, regardless of their background, can see a pathway to success. By working together across education, business, sport and the voluntary sector, we can open doors that might otherwise remain closed.
“I welcome the leadership shown by Tottenham Hotspur and Spurs in the Community. Their commitment to creating opportunities for local people reflects the deep connection the Club has with the area it calls home.
“Together Tottenham is an investment in our young people, in our shared future and in the enduring belief that Tottenham’s best days lie ahead.”
Matthew Collecott, Chief Operations & Finance Officer, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chair of Trustees, Spurs in the Community, said: “Tottenham Hotspur was founded by local young people, and our connection to this community has shaped the Club for almost a century and a half. Together Tottenham builds on years of established work by the Club and Spurs in the Community to improve life chances for local young people—from education and football development to employment support and trusted local partnerships—which already reaches thousands of people and creates significant social value each year. What we are launching today is a clear, connected pathway - strengthening what we know already works and making it easier for young people to access the right opportunity at every stage of their journey.
“Our purpose is clear: to ensure that a young person growing up in Tottenham can see and access a pathway from school to further study, training and a rewarding career, close to home. The university campus will complete that pathway, connecting the opportunities young people receive through school, mentoring and employment support with undergraduate and postgraduate study, and then with routes into work, leadership and giving back to their community.
“By combining a strong foundation with significant new opportunities, we can turn the priorities identified by our fans into lasting impact for young people in Tottenham.”
Marc Leckie, Chief Executive Officer of Spurs in the Community, said: “Young people tell us that talent is everywhere you look in Tottenham, but opportunity is not. Together Tottenham is designed to change that by creating a clear and supported journey from early engagement and education into employment and leadership.
"Spurs in the Community will be the front door to that journey, using our trusted local relationships and youth expertise to help each young person take the next step. Call Up is an important new part of that promise, connecting young people directly with employers, apprenticeships and careers.”
Jan Balon, Headteacher at the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham and Trustee of Spurs in the Community, said: “Education can be transformational when young people can see a clear path from the classroom to university and a rewarding career. At the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham, we have seen what our students can achieve when high expectations are matched by the right support and opportunities.
“Together Tottenham will strengthen that journey, connecting more young people with outstanding education, further study and the skills and networks they need to fulfil their potential.”
Levi Ngimbi, 24, is one of the local young people whose experience reflects the ambition behind Together Tottenham. Having taken part in a Spurs in the Community entrepreneurship programme last year, he has since made significant progress in growing his creative agency, Preacher, including securing his first paying clients.
He said: “Spurs in the Community gave me a platform I couldn’t have built alone. As a young person in London, one of the most concerning things is not knowing how else I’d have accessed opportunities like these. Spurs in the Community provided that space, and it didn’t stop there – I’ve since joined its youth advisory board and content creation programme, giving me the chance to have my ideas heard. That’s what this organisation does: it doesn’t just open the first door, but the ones that follow. From my own experience, I’ve no doubt Together Tottenham will create even more opportunities for young people like me.”
