FPL | Spurs Gameweek 8 Preview

Eight players across our team returned more than just the standard appearance points in Fantasy Premier League in Monday night’s win over Coventry City.

Ahead of Gameweek 8, Fantasy Football Scout take a look at the underlying numbers behind a top FPL performance in Gameweek 7, particularly in the attacking areas of the pitch.

We have teamed up with Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2026/27 FPL season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide advice and gameweek tips which should prove useful in ensuring you win your mini-leagues.

Best of Spurs

James Maddison (£6.2m) made his first start for us in 18 months on Monday evening, registering a goal as well as two bonus points for a nine-point return. The midfielder had two shots on goal against his old club as well as supplying two crosses and creating a chance for his teammates.

Omar Marmoush (£7.0m) also registered nine points in Gameweek 7. The forward scored his first goal for us and collected all three bonus points, while Ben Davies (£3.9m) came off the bench to score our third goal of the evening, which saw him return seven points for his FPL managers.

Meanwhile, Mo Kudus (£6.5m), Andy Robertson (£4.4m) and Dom Solanke (£5.8m) registered six, five, and four points respectively for their assists on Monday.

Sandro Tonali (£5.3m) led the way for defensive actions against Coventry with 15, while centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke (£4.9m) also met the defensive contribution threshold with 11.

Midfielders need to register 12 or more defensive actions in a game to collect two additional defensive contribution points, while defenders need to complete 10 defensive actions.

Defensive actions are made up of clearances, blocks, interceptions and successful tackles for defenders, with the same metrics plus ball recoveries for midfielders. JP has now registered the additional defensive contribution points three times and has returned them in back-to-back gameweeks.

Spotlight: Omar Marmoush (£7.0m)

Omar’s performance against Coventry on Monday evening will have peaked the attention of FPL managers. The forward has now started five games for us in the league and made six appearances, and in that time, he has had nine shots, four of which have come from inside the box.

Our forward has also been involved in our creative build-up play, supplying seven crosses and creating four chances for his teammates, as well as one of shots being defined as an OPTA big chance.

During Omar’s best FPL season, he registered 73 points in 16 appearances. The forward has already returned 18 points in six appearances this season and so is on track to have his best FPL season.

FPL managers like to pick players based on their route to points, so will be pleased to see that Marmoush took three corners against Coventry on Monday evening as well as a free kick. Set piece responsibility increases his appeal in FPL as it makes Omar more like to be involved in goals scored.

Spurs’ most popular FPL asset

JP is our most transferred in player ahead of the Gameweek 8 deadline on Friday evening. The 26-year-old has now registered a return in each of the last five gameweeks, and in that period he has returned a goal, two clean sheets, six defensive contribution points and two bonus points.

Across the last five matches, JP has averaged 5.8 points per start, which ranks in the top ten for defenders in the game.

Hidden Gem

Coventry City’s Bobby Thomas (£4.0m) is a good option for managers looking for a budget-friendly defender. Thomas has registered defensive contribution points in five of his seven starts this season and has also come close to picking up the extra points in the other two fixtures, registering nine and eight defensive actions, just shy of the 10 needed to meet the threshold.

The deadline for transfers ahead of Gameweek 8 is on Friday, 23 October at 6.30m UK time.
