De Zerbi on purpose of Spain training camp
Roberto De Zerbi wants to build on the team spirit shown in Saturday's Premier League 1-1 draw with Manchester United during the squad's training camp in Spain this week.
On top for large spells in an impressive first-half display which ended goalless, Bryan Mbeumo's opener on 73 minutes and Rodrigo Bentancur's red card five minutes later threatened to derail our positive momentum.
Instead, our 10 men rallied well in the closing stages and found a deserved equaliser when first-time captain Dominic Solanke opened his account for the season with a glancing header in the 92nd minute.
Our Head Coach praised the team's togetherness to salvage a point at Old Trafford and sees the training camp in Marbella as a chance to strengthen those connections and bring a new-look team even closer with the nine-day gap to Coventry City next Monday (kick-off 8pm UK).
When asked about the training camp in Spain, Roberto said: "We have to build the team.
"Now the target is to build the team, not the group of the players. We are a great group of players, but we are not a team yet.
"This game (Manchester United), we show to be a team. To be a team is to play for the team-mates, suffer together, attack together, defend together, the players who come inside five minutes, three minutes, like Mateus Fernandes, they have to play like they are in the first 11, without problems, without other faults.
"We have to find the balance between the confidence in ourselves and to be hungry in the training and in the games."
