Internationals | Sombath features in huge win for France, Assist for Ourkriss on England Under-19s debut

It was another productive day for our players on the international stage as Alice Sombath helped France to an emphatic 9-0 win over Lativa while Rania Ourkiss registered an assist just one minute into England Under-19s debut.

With France already securing their spot in next summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals in Brazil, they took on Lativa in an international friendly on Saturday night in Laval, and it was an impressive display for the Les Bleues.

Our summer arrival Alice Sombath started amongst the substitutes at the Stade Francis Le Basser and was introduced into the action at the break, with her nation already six goals to the good after the first period.

The young defender completed 45 minutes as she ensured France preserved their clean sheet on the night while they added a further three goals in the second half to secure the 9-0 win.

Turning attention to England’s youth teams, Rania Oukriss made an immediate impact on her England Under-19s debut as the Young Lionesses drew 2-2 with Switzerland to earn their first point of the qualifying campaign for next summer's UEFA Women's U19 European Championship.

Earning her maiden call-up to John Salomon’s side this month, the young midfielder had to wait until the hour mark to earn her first appearance in an England shirt but, just 60 seconds into stepping on the pitch, Rania found Kyri Teer-Hutichins on the edge of the box and she found the bottom corner to fire her side 2-1 up at the time.

Although the Young Lionesses looked on course for their first victory of the qualifying campaign, Switzerland levelled with 13 minutes left to play and were forced to settle for a point.
