Team news | Maddison available, Kudus edging closer to a start
Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that James Maddison is back in the frame, while Mohammed Kudus is close to being ready to start a game.
Midfielder Madders hasn’t been involved since picking up a slight shoulder issue in our opening-day defeat at Brentford – missing our last three matches in all competitions as a result – while forward Mo has made second-half substitute appearances in our last two games, his first action since January in the wake of a hamstring injury.
After confirming to reporters that Madders is back at his disposal during his press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (5.30pm UK), Head Coach Roberto reiterated his long-term admiration of Mo and said that the Ghana international continues to make progress.
“I think (he’s) very close to being ready to start a game,” he said. “It’s an amazing feeling for me. I wanted Mo Kudus when I was in Brighton, I pushed a lot to bring him before he went to West Ham. He can play as a winger, as a number 10, as a striker up front and he’s an amazing player.”
Roberto also confirmed that Mykhailo Mudryk has been ruled out with an ankle injury in the wake of his debut at Nottingham Forest last week – his first competitive action in some 20 months. He joins Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons on the sidelines.”
