Hanson your Player of the Match after impressive brace to beat West Ham
Kirsty Hanson scooped up our Player of the Match after her breathtaking brace in our 3-1 opening day win over West Ham United in the Women’s Super League.
In a poll run exclusively on the Spurs Official App, our new number 16 put in a sensational performance on her competitive debut for the Club to claim the first award of the 2026/27 campaign.
Kicking off our eighth season in England’s top flight – and the second term under Head Coach Martin Ho – the Scotland international was handed a start on her first appearance at Brisbane Road and it took just 30 minutes to endear herself to the Lilywhite fanbase.
Making a charging run from inside her own half, Signe Gaupset, who opened the scoring for us in the 18th minute, slid the ball into the path of Kirsty and she found the back of the net despite goalkeeper Constance Picaud-Inconnu getting a touch on it.

A constant threat down the right-hand side, with her speed and strength to beat her opponent, Kirsty then produced a spectacular strike to extend our advantage on 74 minutes, curling a superb left-footed shot inside the far post.
That goal also saw her write her name into the Club’s history book after just one game, becoming the first Spurs player to score a brace on her WSL debut for the Club – and her third in the competition in just 2026!
Making way for Olivia Holdt in the 80th minute, Kirsty left the field to a standing ovation from the Spurs supporters as she gave us a taste of what’s to come further down the line in a Spurs shirt.
