Marmoush: "I bring pace, goals, a lot of passion and love for the team"
A big summer just got bigger for Omar Marmoush after completing a loan move to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday afternoon.
After representing Egypt in his first World Cup at the start of the summer, the 27-year-old enjoyed wedding celebrations earlier this month and rounded it off with signing for Spurs.
Arriving in north London after an 18-month spell at Manchester City, our new number 22 became our eighth summer addition and follows former City teammate Sávio in making the switch this week.
“It feels amazing,” said Omar, speaking in first interview with the club.
“I'm very happy to be here, so excited to start with the team and can't wait to meet all of the fans and start playing all together on the pitch.
“My family's reaction has been amazing. My wife is so happy to be here also in London and for me to be in this club, to see me happy and I'm very happy to be here.
“It's been an amazing summer. The wedding, of course, the best day of my life. Coming here, I'd say it's been an amazing summer to finish it off strong, and I can't wait to get started.”
A versatile, pacey attacker with an eye for goal, the forward signed for Man City under former boss Pep Guardiola in January, 2025 following a prolific spell at German side Eintracht Frankfurt and produced seven goals – including a hat-trick against Newcastle and the 2024/25 Goal of the Season winner against Bournemouth – in his opening 16 Premier League appearances.
Developing under one of the best coaches in world football and winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in east Manchester, the Egypt international now links up with Roberto De Zerbi who he regards as ‘one of the best’ coaches in the world and is ‘very excited’ about the attractive project here.
“Tottenham's one of the biggest clubs in England and, if not, the world,” he said.
“The project was very attractive. I spoke a lot with the Head Coach and he convinced me of the whole project and I can't wait to start.
“I'm sure he's [De Zerbi] up there, one of the best coaches in the world for sure. I think our passion for the game will be very good together and I’m so excited to start with him.
“I'd say I bring pace, goals, a lot of passion and love for the team, for the game. I would say these four things. I just can't wait to be in front of the fans and start playing the game.”
