Ben Davies moves into the top 25 of our all-time appearance list
Ben Davies has climbed over Jermain Defoe into our all-time top 25 appearance makers after leading the team out against Charlton on Wednesday evening.
Having sat level with ‘JD’ on 363 appearances in all competitions since January due to injury, Ben was back in Lilywhite and aptly wore the armband as he racked up appearance number 364 – now making him our 25th all-time appearance maker.
What a night do it, as well, as we ran out 5-1 winners with Academy graduate Mikey Moore on the scoresheet, Kevin Danso scoring his first Spurs goal – all before new arrival Sávio stole the show with a debut goal off the bench.
It might have been two for the Brazilian – but a certain Wales international made sure by deflecting the shot home – his 11th goal for us.
With our records starting from our first season in the Football League – 1908/09 – only 29 players have made over 350 appearances for us.
Our longest-serving current player, joining in 2014, Ben could quickly climb further with his former team-mates Eric Dier (365) and Aaron Lennon, plus legendary striker Martin Chivers (both 367) all in his sights.
