Watch Under-21s’ season opener at Newcastle live on SPURSPLAY

With a number of players having stepped up from the Under-18s in recent months and a couple of new recruits in the mix as well – attacking midfielder Cole Ramsey and defender Maxwell Adedeji having joined us over the summer after their departures from Aston Villa and Leicester City respectively – there’s a new look to Wayne Burnett’s squad ahead of the new campaign.

There were important match minutes for several players throughout pre-season as we faced four non-league teams – Ebbsfleet United, Boreham Wood, Hornchurch and Enfield Town – along with Spanish side Algeciras CF in friendly action, but it’s now down to business as the competitive campaign begins at this level.

Newcastle will be hosting the match at Whitley Park, with kick-off at 7pm BST.
