Spence starts in England stalemate at World Cup

Djed Spence made his first World Cup start as England were held to a 0-0 draw with Ghana in Boston on Tuesday evening.

The defender played the first 65 minutes of the Group L clash before being substituted for Nico O'Reilly. It was Djed's eighth cap for his country.

Both sides came into the game looking to maintain perfect starts at the tournament but the stalemate ended that for the two nations.

England remain top of the group, ahead of Ghana on goal difference.

The other game in Group L in the early hours of Wednesday morning saw Croatia - for whom Luka Vuskovic was an unused substitute - put their first points on the board with a 1-0 win over Panama in Toronto.
