Ryan joins England squad

Mon 23 March 2015, 18:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Ryan Mason has been called into the senior England squad for the first time.

The midfielder has been added to the squad by Roy Hodgson for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley on Friday and next Tuesday’s (March 31) friendly against Italy in Turin.

That means we have five players in the senior squad as Ryan joins Harry Kane, Danny Rose, Andros Townsend and Kyle Walker – Ryan, Danny, Andros and Harry are all products of our Academy.

Capped at Under-16, 19 and 20 levels by England, Ryan made his breakthrough for us this season with a stunning goal against Nottingham Forest in the Capital One Cup in September.

He made his Premier League debut for us in the cauldron of the North London derby at the Emirates just three days later and hasn’t looked back – he has 29 appearances in all competitions now this season including 22 starts in the Premier League, a tally toppled only by Hugo Lloris, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen.
