Internationals - DeAndre's USA double

Thu 11 June 2015, 08:00|Tottenham Hotspur

DeAndre Yedlin helped USA complete a memorable European double on Wednesday night.

The full-back came off the bench at the start of the second half as Jurgen Klinsmann's men came from behind to beat Germany 2-1 in a friendly in Cologne.

It was the fourth time the US have beaten Germany but the first time on German soil.

The victory came just five days after America came from 3-1 down to beat Holland 4-3 in a friendly in Amsterdam.

Mario Goetze put the world champions ahead on 12 minutes, Mix Diskerud levelled just before the break and Bobby Wood, who scored the injury time winner against Holland, struck another beauty from 25 yards to secure victory three minutes from time.

DeAndre earned his 17th cap and will now travel back to the States with the squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

USA have one final preparation friendly against Guatemala on July 3 before kicking-off the Gold Cup against Honduras in Texas on July 7.

Meanwhile, Luke Amos started for England Under-18s and Kyle Walker-Peters came off the bench in the second half as the Young Lions lost their second of their back-to-back friendlies 2-1 against Russia in Moscow.
