Holtby happy after debut

Thu 31 January 2013, 16:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Lewis Holtby was all smiles after his debut at Norwich City.

The midfielder made quite an impression in a 20-minute cameo off the bench and played his part in Gareth Bale's fantastic equaliser.

Lewis looked isolated on the left touchline but backheeled the ball to Jermain Defoe, he turned it into the path of Gareth and the flying winger did the rest.

We almost snatched victory in the last minute but Canaries goalkeeper Mark Bunn produced a fantastic save to deny Gylfi Sigurdsson.

"I’m just happy we got the goal," said the German international.

"It was a great finish from Gareth. That’s his quality. If you give him that space and he can get one-on-one and have a shot on goal, great things can happen.

"We could have got the three points in the end. Gylfi’s shot looked in all the way but it was a great save from the goalkeeper.

"We had a very good second half, put pressure on Norwich, tried to play football and did that really well in the second half.

"A point is okay, we wanted all three but in the end, I think we'll say we’ll take the point.

"I felt really comfortable out there. The lads got me into the game, built up my confidence and I thank them for that."
