We are delighted to announce that Mike England and Alan Gilzean will be the next inductees into our Hall Of Fame on a special night at White Hart Lane on Monday, December 2.
The pair were key members of Bill Nicholson's squad that lifted the FA Cup in 1967 and went on to win the League Cup in 1971 and 1973 and the UEFA Cup in 1972.
Welsh international centre-half Mike joined us from Blackburn Rovers in August, 1966 for a then British record fee for a defender.
He kept Chelsea dangerman Tony Hateley quiet as we toppled the Blues in the 1967 FA Cup Final and although he missed the 1971 League Cup Final through injury, he then played in both legs of our UEFA Cup triumph in 1972, the League Cup the following year and scored as we lost out over two legs to Feyenoord in the 1974 UEFA Cup Final.
Mike went on to make 397 competitive appearances for us - he's 11th in our all-time list - and scored 19 goals.
He went on to play for Cardiff City and Seattle Sounders and then spent eight years as Welsh national team manager, 1980-1988, narrowly missing out on qualifying for the World Cup Finals of 1982 (on goal difference) and 1986.
He was awarded the MBE for services to Welsh football in 1984.
Like Mike, Alan Gilzean is one of the club's all-time greats.
Snapped up from Dundee in December, 1964, Alan went on to score 133 goals in 439 appearances - placing him eighth in both our all-time appearances and goalscoring lists.
The Scottish international striker and title-winner with Dundee, Alan initially formed a lethal partnership with Jimmy Greaves, winning the FA Cup in 1967, before leading the line with another legendary marksman, Martin Chivers, in the early 1970s.
Alan played in our League Cup win in 1971, both legs of the UEFA Cup Final in 1972 and our 1973 League Cup victory.
So popular with the fans, Alan returned to the Lane for the first time in a number of years for our win against West Ham last November. "I'm a Tottenham man at heart and Tottenham was my club," he told delighted fans. "I don't think I could pull on another team's jersey wth the same feeling I had for Spurs."
