Clapham back at the Lane
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Jamie Clapham returns to the Lane claiming we 'look fantastic' and happily suggesting the pressure is all on us this afternoon.
The young wing-back joined us a trainee and made one substitute appearance in May 1997 before eventually moving to Ipswich in March 1998 via loan spells at Bristol Rovers and Orient.
He has enjoyed great success at Portman Road and has already notched up over 150 appearances for the Suffolk outfit.
Clapham has been in and around the starting line-up this term and will hope to make his second appearance for Town at his former home having played in the first game of last season.
He said: "Tottenham are having a fantastic time at the present.
"It is amazing how one man-Glenn Hoddle-has come in and has changed what is virtually the same set of players into world-beaters.
"He has got an old head in Teddy Sheringham and he has brought in Gus Poyet and they really are looking fantastic.
"We are at the bottom and we know we have to start winning, picking up points but there is no pressure going to Spurs because no one expects us to do well there.
"But if we can get through this weekend, perhaps pick something up then we have two home games where hopefully we can pick six points up and move off the table.
"They have good players all over the park and they are all playing well at the moment so it can't be a case of just trying to stop one individual because someone else will take over.
"He have to concentrate on our strong points and hopefully we can do them more damage than they do to us.
"They are a good passing side and we are as well so it will be a good game at the weekend, we are playing well but have not had the breaks."
As for his move away from the Lane, Clapham recalled: "At the time they released me they were in a predicament, they were bottom of the league and they felt they needed experienced players to get out of it which was fair enough.
"The opportunity came for me to move to Ipswich and it has been an excellent period in my career.
"There have been highs and lows but I have really enjoyed my time here.
"For the most part I have been playing regular first team football which is what it is all about."
