Darren Anderton has withdrawn from the England squad ahead of Wednesday's friendly against Holland.

The in-form midfielder's hopes of pressing his World Cup claims further have been hit by a slight hamstring problem.

Boss Glenn Hoddle revealed this afternoon: "Darren has been troubled by a slight hamstring problem for a while and it flared up after the Leicester game.

"We still sent him to join up with the England camp and any decision on Darren was left to them."
