To Care Is To Do – Celebrating the fantastic work of our Official Supporters’ Clubs

Thu 17 September 2020, 15:54|Tottenham Hotspur

Being a fan of Tottenham Hotspur is about being part of a global Spurs family and we are always proud to celebrate the fantastic support we receive from our Official Supporters’ Clubs, including the incredible charitable work carried in the name of the Club.

We have seen for many years how our clubs regularly go above and beyond to help charities and worthy causes within their own communities around the world.

Never has this family sprit been more important than it is today, and we are extremely proud of how our Supporters’ Clubs have stepped up and supported those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As we begin to welcome new clubs into our Spurs family, we should like to take this opportunity to recognise some of the fantastic work that has been taking place over a challenging past few months.

First Team players recently made surprise video calls to three Supporters’ Clubs to thank them and find out more about their incredible efforts.

Heung-Min Son caught up with Thailand Spurs, who have been handing out food parcels to vulnerable people across the country.

Meanwhile, Lucas Moura heard about how Louisville Spurs raised over $3,000 to help staff at their local pub whose jobs have been affected by the pandemic, and Ryan Sessegnon spoke to Julia Fixter, Chair of Scunthorpe Spurs, who has been helping people recovering from COVID-19 in her local community.

On top of these uplifting stories, special mentions also go to:

• Maidenhead Spurs and Maiden City Spurs, who have helped support their local hospitals.
• Toronto Spurs, who have built a community support network, with members volunteering their time to run errands for those who are vulnerable or self-isolating.
• Hong Kong Spurs, who donated 125 SIM cards to underprivileged students who need help accessing technology to support home learning.
• DC Spurs, who have also raised funds for staff at their home pub whose jobs were impacted by the lockdown.

Beyond the pandemic, there are countless other examples of our Official Supporters’ Clubs going the extra mile in the name of Spurs and supporting a variety of worthy causes.

In Portugal, Algarve Spurs recently handed over an impressive €2,600 to Centre Algarve, a specialist holiday facility for people with special needs, following a series of fundraising initiatives during the 2019/20 season.

Elsewhere, Limerick Spurs from Ireland have partnered with the Limerick Mental Health Association, which will see the club raise awareness of the charity’s work through a range of activities.

We look forward to welcoming more Official Supporters’ Clubs on board for the coming season and hearing more inspirational stories from members of our Spurs family around the world.
