For the first time in their 116-year history, AFC Bournemouth will be plying their trade in the top flight of English league football during the 2015-16 season having won the Championship title.

The Cherries’ success in reaching the Premier League is all the more remarkable considering their recent past. Back in 2009, the club narrowly avoided relegation out of the Football League and going out of business. But three promotions – in 2010, 2013 and 2015 – means they can look forward to upcoming visits to Stamford Bridge, Anfield, Old Trafford and of course, White Hart Lane in the coming season!

Back on August 9, 2014, Bournemouth got off to the perfect start to their Championship campaign winning 4-0 away at Huddersfield Town and followed that result with a 1-0 win over Brentford at their home ground - the Goldsands Stadium - a week later.

Goal scoring was never a problem for the Dorset club in 2014-15. They hit the back of the net more times than any other team in the Football League during the campaign with 98 league goals in total. Their highest margin of victory was an 8-0 win achieved away at Birmingham City on October 25, 2014. That came in the middle of a run of six straight league wins and an unbeaten sequence that extended to 14 league matches.
