Joe Rodon has thanked the squad for helping him to settle in this season - with a nod to his blossoming friendship with Heung-Min Son.
The Welsh international defender joined us from Swansea in October and is enjoying his best run in the side to date, starting our last three Premier League matches, taking his appearances up to 12 in his first season.
Away from the football, and still only 21, he’s getting accustomed to life in the capital, and that’s where Sonny and the rest of the squad come in.
“I’ve got close with Sonny, he’s a great guy,” said Joe, and it was put to him how football manages to bring people together, the boy from Swansea getting on like a house on fire with the South Korean star.
Sonny’s hilarious, whenever you are down, you speak to Sonny and you’ll smile
“It’s a special thing,” added Joe. “You get all these players coming in from different cultures and it’s a great mix in the changing room. It’s a great group and I’m proud to be part of it.
“The lads have been brilliant with me from the moment I walked through the doors. They’ve been a very welcoming group, and I had Gareth (Bale) and Ben (Davies) here as well to help me settle in. Gareth’s been like a big brother to me.
“Sonny’s hilarious, whenever you are down, you speak to Sonny and you’ll smile. I’m laughing now just thinking about him. I can’t describe him… he’s a great guy and a great character to have in the dressing room.
“Of course, he’s a great player as well, the stats don’t lie, we all know what he’s producing and he’s getting better and better, a top, top player.”
