Destiny Udogie impressed in his first start for Italy, despite the Azzurri's 3-1 loss against England in UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying on Tuesday evening.

Our flying full-back - who earned his first cap off the bench against Malta on Saturday - was everywhere in a 63-minute shift in the Group C clash at Wembley. England eventually came from behind to secure the victory that booked a place in the finals in Germany next summer.

Destiny's night started with an early yellow card but soon took an upturn when he played a huge part as Italy opened the scoring on 15 minutes. Receiving the ball deep in his half, Destiny exchanged passes with Nicolo Barella on a 60-yard burst upfield. At the end of that run, Italy switched play to the right where Gianluca Scamacca tapped home from Giovanni Di Lorenzo's cross.

Harry Kane levelled from the penalty spot after Di Lorenzo brought down Jude Bellingham but Destiny almost put his side ahead again just before the break, this time breaking into the box and, with his right foot, aiming a low curler that forced the save of the night from Jordan Pickford.

Marcus Rashford fired England ahead on 58 minutes, Destiny was substituted on 63 before Kane wrapped it up with his second on the night for 3-1 on 77 minutes, his 61st goal for the Three Lions.

Destiny's team-mates James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario remain unused substitutes.

Staying with England, at youth level, Ashley Phillips captained England Under-19s and was joined by goalkeeper Luca Gunter and Jamie Donley in the starting line-up against Austria in UEFA Under-19 qualifying - Luca produced a fine save to deny Furkan Dursun as it ended goalless in Podgorica, Montenegro. Luca and Ashley completed the 90 minutes, Jamie played 66 and Alfie Dorrington remained an unused substitute. That was England's third draw in their three group games, leaving them third in Group 12 and facing an anxious wait to see if they qualify as the third-placed team with the best record. Will Andiyapan played the first half as Wales lost 3-0 against Montenegro in the same group.

Meanwhile, Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett both started as England’s Elite League squad suffered a late loss against Portugal in Milton Keynes. Alfie set up England's leveller for Emran Soglo after Youssef Chermiti opened the scoring for the visitors and went close again from a free-kick at 1-1, but Portugal snatched victory through Miguel Fale in added time.
