Internationals - Troy on target as Republic of Ireland beat Scotland

Mon 13 June 2022, 09:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Troy Parrott helped Republic of Ireland light up the Aviva Stadium in Dublin with a goal and assist in a 3-0 win in the UEFA Nations League against Scotland on Saturday.

The striker - on loan at MK Dons last season - darted in to meet Michael Obafemi's cross and head past Craig Gordon for 2-0 in the first half. Alan Browne earlier tapped home Ireland's first goal from a corner and Troy then played the pass into Swansea forward Obafemi to strike home a cracker to secure ROI's first win in the competition.

At 20 years and 127 days old, Troy became the youngest player to score a competitive goal for the Republic since Stephen Ireland back in October, 2006. The Academy graduate played 85 minutes and now has three goals in his 13 caps.

On Sunday, Dejan Kulusevski (24 caps) started, completed the full 90 minutes and claimed an assist for Sweden against Norway, however, the home side won it 3-2 in Oslo in UEFA Nations League, League B Group 4.

Staying in the UEFA Nations League, Ben Davies (73 caps) and Joe Rodon (26) started again as Wales found a late equaliser against Belgium at Cardiff City Stadium in League A Group 4 on Saturday. Ben played 73 minutes, Joe completed a full shift as Brennan Johnson levelled four minutes from time.

Also in League A Group 4, Steven Bergwijn (20 caps) started and played 77 minutes as Holland came from 2-0 to rescue a point against Poland at De Kuip in Rottderdam. Matty Cash and Piotr Zielinski put Poland in the driving seat, but a quickfire double from Davy Klaassen and Denzel Dumfries brought the Dutch level on 54 minutes. They had a chance to win it as well - but Memphis Depay missed a penalty in added time.

It's tight in League A Group 3, where Harry Kane was rested from the starting line-up as England were held to a goalless draw by Italy at Molineux, Wolves. Harry came off the bench on 65 minutes for his 72nd cap and had one half-chance, a snapshot over from the left angle. England are bottom of the group, but there is only three points from top to bottom at the half-way stage.
