Dane Scarlett scored twice as England Under-19s booked their place in the European Under-19 Championship semi-finals with a game to spare, comfortably dispatching Serbia 4-0 in Slovakia on Wednesday evening.
The striker netted inside the opening five minutes, before doubling his tally five minutes prior to half-time to put the Young Lions in command. Carney Chukwuemeka and Daniel Jebbison rounded off the victory in the second period.
The result leaves England with maximum points in Group B after two games and in addition to securing a semi-final tie against either France or Italy, has qualified them for next year’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Alfie Devine, who scored in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Austria, came off the bench on the hour mark, while Dane was withdrawn after 70 minutes.
The Young Lions take on Israel in their final group stage game on Saturday (kick-off 7pm UK, live on BBC iPlayer).
