Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Troy Parrott and Malachi Fagan-Walcott took part in a football coaching session with local children this afternoon on the first full day of our pre-season tour in South Korea.
The players were joined by over 20 participants aged 12-15 from ChildFund Korea, one of the most influential charities in South Korea which works to improve children’s welfare.
Founded in 1948, ChildFund Korea is known for its ‘I-LEADER’ project, which aims to support children from low-income families to help develop their talents through education and sport. The charity helps provide teaching materials, sports kit and equipment, and school uniforms to children across Korea.
The participants were treated to a memorable training session hosted by the Club’s Global Football Development coaches, where alongside our players and Club Ambassador Ledley King, they were put through their paces with a series of footballing drills, skills, and tactics. After the session, the group had the opportunity to get autographs and pictures with the players.
Our expert coaches deliver world-class technical programmes, educational talks, workshops, and exercises classes around the world with the aim to keep children physically active and promote a positive mental wellbeing.
Our coaches help showcase the authentic training methods developed within the Club’s Academy, helping young players to reach their full potential.
Speaking after the session, Eric said: “It was great to take part in this session today with participants from ChildFund Korea. Hopefully we were able to give them a memorable experience which will help inspire them to be the best version of themselves both on and off the pitch. The class today was a brilliant way to kick off our pre-season tour in Seoul, and we look forward to meeting many more fans this week.”
Lee Je-Hoon, chairman of ChildFund Korea, commented: “Today’s event has helped to inspire the talented young adults who take part in our programmes to continue playing football and not give up on their dreams. I would like to thank the Club and the players for taking the time during their pre-season tour to give the children an unforgettable day.”
One of the participants commented: “It was so amazing to meet not one, but four Tottenham Hotspur players. Being able to show my football skills in front of them was a brilliant feeling and it is a day I will never forget.”
