Dublin Spurs: “Come and join us!”

Meet our Official Supporters’ Clubs – Dublin Spurs

Fri 06 March 2020, 09:00|Tottenham Hotspur

You don’t need to sell a day out in Dublin, so throw Spurs into the mix and you’ve the perfect combination.

Imagine we’ve a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, and you just happen to be in the city...

“Three o’clock kick-offs are our most sought-after games,” said Mags Molloy, the effervescent chairperson of Dublin Spurs. “We have our own room upstairs in our local pub in Dublin city. That room is covered in Spurs memorabilia, all eras, shirts, scarves, photographs, you name it - floor to ceiling!

“The atmosphere is electric. We play Spurs songs for an hour before kick-off. A three o’clock kick-off would finish around five o’clock - and we’d probably still be there at 10, 11 when the barman might try to kick us out! Saturdays, three o’clock, they are amazing days.

“So, come on down! Mayes Pub, North Frederick Street. Come in and join us, sing with us, chant those songs, cheer on the boys! We want you in the pub, we want you singing, we want you as part of our club.”

One of our most established Official Supporters’ Clubs, Dublin Spurs has been with us for over 25 years, a nod to the longevity of our links with the city from Joe Kinnear (25 caps, 1967-75) through to modern-day hero Robbie Keane, the Republic’s record cap (146) and goalscorer (68) and now youngster Troy Parrott, already capped at 18 - all born in Dublin.

“We have incredible support in Ireland,” added Mags. “Robbie Keane, now Troy Parrott... numerous Irish players over the years. And our support is growing, hugely.”

A number of Dublin Spurs members joined us pitchside ahead of last weekend’s match against Wolves and a night with legendary former skipper Ledley King ‘sold out in days’. “People are still after tickets,” smiled Mags.

To close, what did Mags make of the stadium from pitchside? “I’m speechless, I’m sorry… just speechless. It’s not often that words fail me, but this is one amazing stadium. We did the tour as well, it’s out of this world.”
