Mauricio: “Football is today, not yesterday”

Tue 27 November 2018, 18:34|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino wants to see a repeat the level of performance that put Chelsea to the sword on Saturday as we face a must-win game against Inter in the Champions League at Wembley on Wednesday night.

The previously unbeaten Blues were banished 3-1 in a display that bristled with energy from the first whistle.

Now it’s crunch time in the Champions League. Victory over Inter will move us level on seven points in Group B and take the group stage to Matchday Six when we travel to Barcelona and Inter host PSV.

Inter won seven straight in Serie A after beating us in September and have won eight of their last nine domestically as they arrive in London. They also drew against Barca in the San Siro.

It will be so tough, but we are going to try. If you try, you can achieve. If you don’t try, it’s difficult to achieve...

Mauricio Pochettino

“The most important thing is to try to replicate the same performance and attitude that we had against Chelsea,” said Mauricio. “We have no excuse not to behave or perform in the same way and with the same attitude.

“Football is today, not yesterday. Of course, we are so happy with the performance we had against Chelsea but now is (time) to build the consistency and always try to give your best. After that, the performance is going to be a consequence of your attitude.

“We know very well that it’s not easy to play every single game in your best way but with the right attitude, everything is possible.

“It should be a good example to keep going, to be consistent and it’s clear that playing that way we can achieve the things we want.

“It will be so tough because Inter are a very good team, but we are going to try. If you try, you can achieve. If you don’t try, it’s difficult to achieve.”
