Atlanta Spurs help build community homes

Tue 18 December 2018, 22:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Members of Atlanta Spurs, one of our Official Supporters’ Clubs, have recently volunteered their time to help build affordable houses for people in their community as part of an initiative organised by Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organisation that helps build, renovate and repair affordable houses.

Each year 15,000 volunteers provide more than 130,000 hours of service to build and renovate 50-60 houses in the city. Last month, members of Atlanta Spurs joined other like-minded volunteers from their community to build a house for a family whose son has special needs. The volunteers spent the weekend building interior frames, preparing the roof and front porch.

Beth Davis from Atlanta Spurs said: “Thanks to members of Atlanta Spurs and other members of the community, this family will move into their very own home early next year. This is the third year we have volunteered, and it’s always a pleasure to be involved in the initiative. We will be volunteering our time next year and encourage as many people as possible to join us.”

We currently have 190 Official Supporters' Clubs across the world, including South Korea, India, Singapore, Lebanon, Nigeria, Australia, Bermuda, South Africa, Brazil and USA. In the UK and Ireland, we have 47 clubs, stretching from Cornwall to Glasgow as well as special interest groups such as Proud Lilywhites, for our LGBT+ supporters, SpursAbility, for our disabled fans, and Armed Forces Spurs for serving and former members of the British Armed Forces.
