A great time to form a new Official Supporters' Club

Thu 09 August 2018, 10:49|Tottenham Hotspur

There’s never been a better time to set up a brand new Official Supporters’ Club. With an enhanced package of offers and a worldwide Spurs community to join – applications for the 2018/19 season can now be made.

Wherever you are in the world, creating an Official Supporters’ Club is a fantastic way to bring together like-minded fans to watch games in your local area, get priority access to match tickets and support good causes in your community.

Home and abroad, our Supporters’ Clubs are a fantastic touchpoint for all fans. The past season has seen Punjabi Spurs hold gatherings for Supporters’ Club members ahead of every home game at the Wembley Novotel while Yorkshire Spurs, South Dorset Spurs and Isle of Wight Spurs have all been visited by Club legends including Ossie Ardiles, Micky Hazard, Paul Miller and David Howells for memorable evenings. A football tournament for Supporters’ Club members also took place at Hotspur Way, courtesy of Kumho Tyre, with special guests including Cliff Jones, Pat Jennings and Graham Roberts.

During our recent Tour of the USA, the Club hosted a beach party with San Diego Spurs, a four-a-side tournament with LA Spurs and Club Ambassadors Ledley King and Darren Anderton took part in Supporter Evenings across the three cities we visited.

This season, for the first time, we shall host an awards ceremony to recognise Official Supporters’ Clubs for the work they do both in support of the Club and in their local communities. Clubs will be acknowledged for outstanding contributions to charitable causes, significant membership growth and for organising special events which bring fans together.

As well as coming together to watch Spurs matches, many of our Official Supporters’ Clubs have become a force for good within their local communities. Last season, members of our Supporters’ Clubs cooked meals for the homeless at the Antwerp Arms community kitchen in Tottenham and South Wales Spurs hosted a legends night to raise money for local charities and the Tottenham Tribute Trust. Austin Spurs assisted the Hurricane Harvey relief effort in Houston and Malaysia Spurs organised a visit to an elderly care home to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Daniel Levy, Chairman, Tottenham Hotspur, said: “Our Club is defined by the incredible support it receives and our Official Supporters’ Clubs are a great example of that. As our global fanbase continues to grow, being part of an Official Supporters’ Club is a great way of meeting up with fellow Spurs fans to enjoy games wherever you are in the world. We look forward to welcoming many more Official Supporters’ Clubs into the Spurs family.”

We currently have 170 Official Supporters' Clubs across the world, including South Korea, India, Singapore, Lebanon, Nigeria, Australia, Bermuda, South Africa, Brazil and USA. Last season alone we welcomed 14 new clubs including Ghana, Chile, Beijing, Israel and further clubs within the UK.

In the UK we have 25 clubs, stretching from Cornwall to Glasgow as well as special interest groups such as Proud Lilywhites, for our LGBT+ supporters, SpursAbility, for our disabled fans, and Armed Forces Spurs for serving and former members of the British Armed Forces.
