Friday night’s internationals | Clinton, Nildén in action at Wembley

It was a busy night for a number of our Women’s first team players on international duty as the UEFA Euro 2025 qualifiers got underway on Friday evening.

Grace Clinton was handed her 3rd cap for England as she started at Wembley against Sweden and completed just under an hour, putting in a good shift for the Lionesses in the opening game of their qualifying group.

Defender Amanda Nilden came off the bench in the 62nd minute and helped Sweden find an equaliser two minutes later, cancelling out Alessia Russo’s header in the first half, as the game finished 1-1 at the national stadium. Matilda Vinberg was an unused substitute.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Barbora Votíková started and played the full 90 minutes as Czech Republic suffered a 3-1 loss against Denmark in their qualifier. That was her 38th cap.

A number of our players were on the scoresheet for their respective countries, Celin Bizet netted the opener for Norway in their 4-0 win over Finland as Olga Ahtinen and Eveliina Summanen both featured in Oslo, Luana Bühler headed home her second goal for Switzerland as they ran out 3-1 winners and Rosella Ayane scored a late, late winner for Morocco in the first leg of their Olympic qualifier.
