Alfie Devine

Born: 01 August 2004 (Warrington, England)

Alfie Devine

Central midfielder Alfie Devine joined our Academy in the summer of 2020 from Wigan Athletic.

An FA Youth Cup quarter-finalist with the Latics during the 2019/20 season, briefly playing against us in the fourth round, the England Under-16 international previously played for Liverpool until he was 11.

His father Sean is a former rugby player for St Helens.

Born in Warrington, Alfie featured as a substitute in first team pre-season matches against Ipswich Town and Reading at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in August, 2020.

He began the competitive 2020/21 season with a string of impressive performances for our Under-18s and stepped up to feature in a handful of games for the Under-23s, before becoming the Club's youngest-ever player and goalscorer at senior level when he netted on his first team debut in a 5-0 FA Cup victory at non-league Marine in January, 2021. He was subsequently named on the bench in Premier League away games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa during the second half of that campaign.

In total, he scored twice in 12 appearances for the Under-18s in all competitions during 2020/21, while mirroring those same numbers for the Under-23s in the Premier League 2.
