Ivan Perisic: “This is going to be a perfect time for me”

Ivan Perisic feels he’s made for the Premier League.

One of the greats of a golden generation of Croatian footballers, our recent capture from Inter cannot wait to get started at Spurs.

Ivan played 49 times for Inter last season, scoring 10 goals, including a double in the final to clinch the Coppa Italia against Juventus in May. He won Serie A with I Nerazzurri under Antonio Conte in 2020/21, his third title after bagging the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, part of a treble in 2019/20 that included the Champions League.

Now 33, with 113 Croatia caps under his belt - he scored in both the semi-final (against England) and final of the 2018 World Cup - he’s back with Antonio and raring to go for the next chapter of an illustrious career.

I can’t wait to start, to train, to play in this amazing stadium, I think we will have a great time and we can do a great job here

“It was always my dream to play in the best five leagues in the world and the Premier League was a missing (piece of the) puzzle,” he told us. “Now I’m here, I want to do my best like I did in all the other leagues. It’s going to be a perfect time for me.

“In the last few years, I played a lot against English teams. The tempo is amazing. I love it. It’s must faster than in Serie A. This is the kind of football I like and is good for me. I spoke to a few players, they said something changed in the last six months, and I think we’re going to do a great job.

“I’m going to bring, first of all, a lot of hard work. I like to work a lot. I like to work for the team because only like this you can win something important. I can play several positions in the system Tottenham is playing now. I will bring a lot of experience as well, I’ve played for a lot of great clubs and, like I said, I can’t wait to start to play, to train and give my best.”
