Harry Kane wasn’t panicking. Why would you, when you’ve 228 goals under your belt for Spurs?

But, as we’re all aware, a lot of the talk outside of the Club ahead of Sunday’s 3-2 win at Newcastle was how the striker hadn’t yet registered in the Premier League. He had nine goals in all competitions for Club and country, but hadn’t a league goal to his name.

He duly put that right in an impressive victory at St James’ Park, timing his run to perfection to meet Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s pass and clip over advancing Karl Darlow. That made it 2-1 after Tanguy Ndombele’s fine strike cancelled out the Toon’s fast start. Harry was then involved again as Heung-Min Son made it 3-1 before half-time. We continued to dominate but the only addition to the scoreline was a late own goal, no more than a blemish as the points rightly came home to N17.

I’m ready for every game and ready for any chance that comes my way... hopefully I’ll add a few more in the coming games

“It’s nice to get off the mark!” smiled Harry. “There’s always a lot of talk when I go a few games without scoring. I want to score in every game I play, of course, but I don’t panic when it’s a few games where I don’t score, so whether it’s Premier League, Europe, internationals, I’m ready for every game and ready for any chance that comes my way. That’s my 10th goal overall this season, and hopefully I’ll add a few more in the coming games.”

Harry stated earlier in the week about the importance of ‘taking it forward’ after wins against Villa and Newcastle. “We’re looking forward to the games ahead,” said Harry. “It’s nice to get that winning feeling and hopefully we continue that against West Ham.

“There are a lot of great teams in the Premier League, and no easy game whether you’re playing bottom of the league, 10th or top of the league, it’s always a tough test and that’s the beauty of the Premier League. That’s two good wins on the bounce now and hopefully we can have another this weekend.”
